This is the first of many books about Arthur the mouse who lives in a church & gets along very well with Sampson the church cat, who 'had listened to so many sermons about the meek being blessed & everybody really being brothers that he had grown quite frighteningly meek & treated Arthur just like a brother.' But Arthur is lonely & one day invites all the mice from the town to live in the safety of the church with him, in return for them doing odd jobs. Once in a while a really special children's book comes along, one that hopefully you will read over and over with your children and then your grandchildren. The Church Mouse is one of these books; younger readers will adore it, and parents probably will too (I'm 23 and absolutely loved it!).
