Unlike America with its Independence Day and France with its Bastille Day, Britain doesn’t seem to possess a single epochal day representing a sublime yet horrific Revolutionary watershed, yet the British Wars which raged in the 17th Century are every bit as revolutionary and world changing then either of those two experiences.. Perhaps the problem is to do with the very contradictions created: a war began to ‘Check’ a King to Parliament yet it left a Republic and a Military Dictatorship every bit more despotic then Charles and his hated Star Chamber.
