It should be noted that Gina Ford does not have her own children; it is clear when you read her books that they are not written from the perspective of a parent and completely lacks emotion or understanding. If you have previously read any of Gina Ford's books you will pretty much know what to expect as they all take the same format.

This book very much reinforces the routines set-out in the contented little baby book. It is quite repetitive and of little use to someone with a child that has a sleep problem. Gina Ford is VERY strict with her routines and unless you are the type of person that is prepared to stick to the regimental day outlined in this book, you are unlikely to succeed. This book also details the much debated subject of controlled crying but doesn't really offer any alternatives to the many parents opposed to this.

The book actually doesn't help if you have a problem with your child's sleeping it is more a preaching that if you had done things right (the way MS Ford says) in the first place you wouldn't be in this situation, useless! One particular area in her book describes teething, apparently teething shouldn't wake a child and no 'Gina Baby' has ever been woken through teething!

There are much better books out there to help deal with a sleep issue which also understand the feelings of a sleep deprived parent!
