This book is easily one of my favourites - it is bumper, coming in at a massive 950 pages of small print, but this is a good thing as the book is extremely well written and you dont want it to end. The story is you viewing individuals and especially a prostitute called "Sugar" making their way from the Victorian slums through to a mid-class mistress. It tells the story of her ambitions, the efforts of her gentlemen to better himself, their family ins and outs including the mum with a brain tumour and their business of beauty products and the society surrounding them.
