Advantages: Original Story
Disadvantages: Poor ending
I can't imagine many people who are not familiar with this book by now owing to it's popularity and notoriety (amongst church go-ers).
IT is a very eloquently and intelligently written work of fiction (or is it?!). There are plot details and subtleties which you will only pick up on the second or third read, but this is a book that if it captures your imagination you will return to again and again. Unusually for Dan Brown's style, this book starts at a relatively quick pace, especially when compared to his other works such as Digital Fortress or Angels and Demons.
It is a masterful story of twists and turns, only really let down by the rather soppy and uninspired ending. Despite this the story has many suprises, especially for the reader who is not familiar with it. Those that are will find themselves returning again and again to pick up little plot nuances that they missed the first time over
Plot Summary
Keepers of the secret of the Holy Grail are being hunted by members of the Vatican. Cryptographer Robert Langdon becomes entiwined when one of the keepers is murdered leaving Da Vinci style codes pointing to where the secret can be found. The story is a chase/caper spread across Europe as agents of the Vatican pursue Langdon and the niece of one of the murdered keepers in their search for the secret of the Holy Grail.
Summary: re-readable!

I did deliberately not include a plot summary as to avoid spoiling peoples suprise should they choose to read it. |

- 09/11/09 Sorry, but after reading your review I haven't got the foggiest idea what the book is about. Do give a short synopsis when reviewing a book. |
