Going to the seaside has never been one of my favourite activities, even as a child. Whilst the majority of kids loved to frolic in the sand I would stay under a parasol reading a book and complain about the heat. The two things that prevented me from going into the water were sharks and sand. I blame 'Jaws' for my irrational fear of sharks, but the bigger issue was sand getting in between my toes. I hate being completely dry only to walk home with scratchy silicone in my trainers - curse you sand! For this reason alone I will never become a surfer, I have not got the laid back attitude needed to continuously walk bare foot on open beaches.
