This debut novel from Linda Fairstein is a gripping story about the investigations of an assistant District Attorney named Alexandra Cooper in New York City. Fairstein herself was the head of Manhattan s Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit so in this book she is writing about what she knows best which means that this is probably a fairly accurate portrayal of life in a District Attorney s office albeit exaggerated in order to make a more exciting novel. The story begins when Isabella Lascar, a Hollywood actress and friend of Alex s, is found dead at the wheel of a car rented in Alex s name, at Alex s weekend home in Martha s Vineyard.
