In 1992, in a move seen as a slightly cynical attempt to boost sales and create publicity, DC comics decided to kill off no less a superhero than Superman himself. In comics, just like soap operas, no one is ever really dead and it won't come as a huge suprise if I reveal that, just as Bobby Ewing walked out of Victoria Principal's shower again one day, Superman eventually returned to battle crime in the pages of DC comics. Any death can be reversed or explained with comic book logic and Superman's 'death' was later used to create new storylines revolving around his return and the ramifications caused by his absence.
