Constructing the book in this manner allows us readers to see the same events from different perspectives and sometimes the way they differ is very intriguing. Not only do we learn about the life and history of the band, we learn about the personal lives of the members (obviously though, only that which they are willing to reveal). Before reading this book I read Nikki Sixx - Heroin Diaries (got it cheap and thought I'd give it a go). Although I like Motley Crue, I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan, but I enjoyed Nikki's book so when I saw 'The Dirt' I thought I'd give it a go. 'The Dirt' certainly doesn't disappoint and the title is certainly an accurate reflection of the content! It's an autobiography of the band and its members, written by them with the help of Neil Strauss. One thing I particularly enjoyed about the book is that it's written from the points of view of each member, including the brief membership of John Corabi, as well as a few other people connected to Motley Crue. ...  Read the complete review

As a long time Crue-head I bought this book as soon as it came out. I had read the publicity on the Motley website and the Chronological Crue site and was expecting big things and boy did I get them. This book chronicles how Motley Crue got together and developed into one of the biggest rock bands in the world. This book is divded up in chapters each written by a different member of the group. I liked this as it gave you different perspectives on what happened. This book goes into great depth and offers up sections written by behind the scenes people including former Motley managers. No stone is left unturned. There is also the threat of another ...  Read the complete review

The dirt, Motley Crues Autobiography. This is perhaps one of the best books I have read all year. The book details the lives of each of the members of Motley Crue, and their climb to fame in the 80's as the worlds most out of control rock band. The book details the childhood of each of the band members, and by flicking between each member in the same chapter shows how eventually their paths came to cross. From their childhood to teenage years the book goes on to explain how each member joined the band and their life on Sunset strip, fighting, drinking and snorting anything in their way. From their new york dolls style start to their rise to fame the ...  Read the complete review
