Poisoning has been a method of choice for murderers for thousands of years. For much of that time, science was incapable of detecting poisons reliably so many murderers were able to escape justice by using this method. In the past two hundred years or so, science has developed techniques to detect poisonous substances so the poisoners have had the tables turned on them somewhat.
