Legion - Dan Abnett

Premium Review Legion - Dan Abnett (277 words)
by MaldivesHoliday - written on 23/02/09 (Very useful, 17 readings)
Rating:

the imperial forces forever. A very well written book that has a great twist at the end. A real war novel which is gripping from the start and the plot races along with some surprises and a few old ricks used in the warfare side of things. This book is more for a tecky sci-fi fan. Some technical terms used but it does not detract from the overall good feel to the book. recommended to read if you get a chance. Written by Dan ...

Legion. Author Dan Abnett. A short review today. Synopsis: ~~~~~~~ The story is set on the world of Nurth, fully 2 years before the Heresy and before Horus becomes the Warmaster. The book follows the exploits of the Space Marines, Alpha Legion, and their crucial role within the war of compliance, or Pacification Campaign , as they arrive on Nurth to back up and support the Imperial Army. Can Alpha Legion be trusted? Can the Space Marines trust each other? And who has been sent with a secret message to the Primarch of the legion and what will that request mean to the legion? Alpha Legion are the last of the Astartes brotherhoods and they may not last much ...

Rating:

the warhammer 40,000 universe. His last command is the ninth in the series and continues the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. I firstly recommend reading the previous books in the stories. Already Dan Abnett has built up characters, the reputation, feelings and history of colonel commisar (now only commisar) Gaunt, the tension between the Tanith and Verghasites and the individual characters like Mkol and Larkin within. In the previous book of the series, Traitor General, Gaunt and a small number of his soldiers were sent on a one way mission to Gereon, behind enemy lines. After completing their task, Gaunts men manage to escape on a transport and thats where this book begins. ...
