Chemistry, once a wonder science that could accomplish miracles, has a bad reputation nowadays. The popular and tabloid press often promotes the view that 'chemicals' are evil, and chemists are mad or incompetent scientists out to poison us. The truth is, of course, a bit more balanced than this.
