A crime novel from the late 50's might not be to everyone's tastes, but once you realize that this film has inspired two film adaptations, one in 1972 with Steve McQueen and one in 1994 with Alec Baldwin you might feel the urge to pick this one up. The book tells the tale of Doc McCoy and his wife Carol who plan a master robbery of a bank with the help of Rudy Butler. After robbing the bank and turning on their partner, the two criminals try to evade capture and attempt to make their getaway to Mexico.
