****The girl from Penny lane****

For those of you who have never heard of Katie Flynn she is in the top ten Sunday times bestselling authors list and also writes under the name Judith Saxon.This book is part of the authors Liverpool series and there are around 22 all together.
This has a number of similarities to other books from the same author.

The story goes between two main characters Kitty Drinkwater and lilac Larkin . Both have experienced some sort of hardship in their lives but intend to make the best of things.

Kitty Drinkwater
One thing i expect to find in one of this authors books is a character who's life is utter crap and in this book it is Kitty.Life is tough for everyone in Liverpool,the war has just ended ,unemployment is everywhere.Kitty,the eldest child in the family is the one her drunken mother blames for everything just because at birth she came out "the wrong way"like its her fault!!! Anyway after a particularly bad day kitty,scared to go home because her mother might kill her decides to run away and make a better life for herself.

Lilac Larkin
Otherwise known as "The girl from Penny lane".She meets Kitty at the beginning of the story but doesn't remember her until near the end.Her life has been hard but nothing like Kittys.

The book has a good plot which i dont want to spoil for you-lets just say a few things happen before they meet properly.
It is quite good how the author has managed to intertwine the two characters-there are a few parts in the book where you think they will meet each other properly but it doesn't pan out that way.
I think that this is one of the better Katie Flynn books and would recommend it to anyone who has came across the others or likes books that have a bit of a sob story,with a happy ending.

Price-The rrp is 6.99 but i got this for £2 in a cheap bookshop(can't remember where)
