Abuse, adultery, computer hacking, corruption, fascism, feminism, fraud, incest, kidnapping, love, murder, misogyny, patricide, rape, serial killings, sex, suicide, torture are the topics dealt with in the thriller The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. They're embedded in a locked-room mystery of a case which has been stone-cold for decades. Henrik Vanger, an octogenarian industrialist, feels that his end is nigh. Before he goes, he wants to make a final attempt to solve the mystery of his great-niece Harriet's disappearance nearly forty years ago. For this he hires the journalist Mikael Blomquist, who's just lost a libel case against a crooked, yet powerful, ... Read the complete review

What was the last book that you read that you couldn't stop thinking about whilst you were at work? That you couldn't wait to have a moment to yourself so that you could curl up and read about what happened next? Mine happened in the last week and a half whilst reading this book by author Stieg Larsson. Whilst browsing on "Lovereading.com" I saw reviews of this book and I was intrigued. The Book & Author ************* Stieg Larssonwas a Swedish writer and journalist and political activist. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is the first crime thriller in the "Millennium Trilogy". Sadly, ... Read the complete review

Recently I went into a second hand bookshop and came out with a stack of books, one of them being The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I have a Scandinavian friend who positively commented on this book on Facebook, so I decided to give it a go. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was written by a Swedish author called Stieg Larsson. It is the first installment of the Millennium Trilogy. Sadly Stieg Larsson died suddenly of a heart attack at the early age of 50, in 2004, "Tragically, he never saw the phenomenon his work would become". The books were originally published in Swedish and at present just the first two in the trilogy have been translated into ... Read the complete review

There has been a lot of hype surrounding this book, and the trilogy of which it is part has sold 7.5 million copies; this was enough to tempt me to give it a go. At over 500 pages, it's a big one, but it's worth it. The story is a crime mystery set in the modern day. Mikael is a journalist who's just be put through the mill by Wennenstorm, an industry magnate, for libel. He is hired by Henrik Vanger, and old millionaire who wants him to investigate the mysterious murder of his niece forty odd years ago. Salander is a computer hacker with a genious brain but a broken mind, who has been hired to investigage Mikael. Between the two of them, will they be able to ... Read the complete review

I got his book free with a newspaper, I'm always happy to get a free book! I was completely unprepared for how much i was going to love this book. I would never have bought this book, I'm not a huge fan of crime books and this seemed very violent even from the blurb. Saying that I had to rush out and buy the nest book as soon as I'd finished reading this one! The story is of Mikael Blomkvist a journalist and Lisbeth Salander an investigator and social misfit. They are hired by Henrik Vanger to investigate the disappearance of his niece 40 years before. The story twists and turns around a number of interlinked stories, each are as well written and intriguing as ... Read the complete review
