This is the story of Crown Princess Ani who, at sixteen is forced to leave her home and family to marry a prince in another land. En route, she is overthrown by an imposter, and this is the story of how she tries to regain what should rightfully be hers. This book stems originally from the Grimm fairy tale of the princess who became a goose girl before she could become a queen, but Hale has elaborated this into so much more. Having never really been a fantasy or mythology reader, I have progressed to discovering something wonderful!
