Worldwar Series - Harry Turtledove in general

Premium Review The Big Uglies v The Lizards (482 words)
by bwana.mdevu - written on 25/01/01 (Very useful, 46 readings)
Rating:

Don`t be put off by the appallingly garish covers of the U.K. editions.I was for years and am now kicking myself for not trusting my previous knowledge about Harry Turtledoves writing! If you manage to acquire the original Del Rey they have much better covers without a Lizard in site to put you off!I only bought them after being recommended to the series by the staff of Bakka Science-Fiction Bookstore in Toronto. Anyway, down to the review. You know what it`s like when you`ve been away from someplace for quite a few years and on your return everything seems to have changed leaving you quite dis-orientated?Well,pity some poor alien ,reptilian invaders who think that they ...

Premium Review Turtledove is the best (312 words)
by Cammij - written on 04/06/01 (Useful, 18 readings)
Rating:

alternate history works. I also love harry harrison who writes similar work. It is either going to be hit or miss with you and Turtledove, either you have a mind that wanders into countless what if scenarios everytime you read history or current events or you have a mind that discounts fantasy as a medium for conscious growth. You can get professional summaries and reviews of Turtledove off of Amazon and I won't begin to mettle in that stuff, I just wished someone had told me the man existed years ago. I get this giddy excited feeling as I count down the days until his new books are released, that is something I never felt before. My favorite series are the ...

Worldwar: Upsetting the Balance - Harry Turtledove

Premium Review Colonization: Aftershocks, worst book ever (735 words)
by Cammij - written on 11/07/01 (Very useful, 47 readings)
Rating:

I finished reading Colonization:Aftershocks at about 3am this morning. I have never felt so cheated and betrayed in my whole life. This was the worst book ever written by anybody. I urge you people not to waste your time with any more of Turtledove's work. I had read some reviews of this book on Amazon.com and should have known better but this book reeked. Now I admit I haven't really read any books since I had to read Huckleberry Finn in the 5th grade and I only read half of that. But this book was awful. If I was haftin' to do my kids homework and write them up a book report I would be unable to think of a single thing that happened in this book or identify the ...
