Premium Review The Gruffalo - Julia Donaldson: Possibly the best Childrens book around (169 words)

The Gruffalo - Julia Donaldson This is perhaps the most famous of her books and after reading it 6 months ago I can see why. Immediately it had me hooked with its expressive text and its gently rhyming words. After many readings I think I can probably recite it off by heart! The story The mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood... the mouse is a small unassuming creature who is propositioned several times on his quiet walk through the wood. Each time he declines courteously saying that he was off to have tea/supper/dinner with a Gruffalo. He describes a part of the Gruffalo each time and suggests that the Gruffalo likes to eat that ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review gruffalo (174 words)

This is the scary tale of a little mouse on a journey through the woods. On his way through the woods the mouse meets a lot of other animals who would like to eat him, a fox, a owl, a snake. Every time he meets someone who wants to eat him he puts them off eating him by telling them about the gruffalo, a big thing with big tusks and big claws. The mouses story of the gruffalo stops him being eaten by all of the creatures in the forest but the gruffalo isnt just a story and you can imagine the horror of the little mouse when he comes face to face with the gruffalo himself. This is a lovely story which is fun for children as there is a ...  Read the complete review

"A MOUSE TOOK A STROLL THROUGH A DEEP DARK WOOD. A FOX SAW THE MOUSE AND THE MOUSE LOOKED GOOD" We bought this book some time ago, and from the start, it was a hit with little lady. Having recently bought tickets for the live theatre production, it has once again become a "must read every night" book, and I for one, am not complaining. **THE STORY** The story follows the adventures of a little mouse who goes for a walk "through the deep dark wood, and meets up with a fox, who invites him to have lunch with him. Clever mouse declines (WE know he is the favourite snack for all of these forest creatures) ...  Read the complete review
