Frank and Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy and his wife Laura. Together, (and sometimes from help with family and friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurrences.... Cave In was published in the US in 1983 & was the seventy eighth in the series. The book first appeared in the UK in 1984 and was numbered 76 when it was published by Armada. This story opens with a report about the disappearance of movie star Richard Chase. It is rare that authors' names live on in publication after their death. Currently, books are still being released under Robert Ludlum's name despite his passing away a number of years ago. The truth is that there is a ghost writer employed to put into hundreds of words the plot outlines he left behind. A different side to this is the use of a pen name by a number of different ghost writers, as with the Hardy Boys mysteries.
