Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Haunted Fort was published in the US in 1965 & was the forty fourth in the series. The book first appeared in the UK in 1973 & was the third story published by Armada. The book starts with Chet inviting Frank & Joe over to the Morton farm with the lure of a mystery. His uncle, Jim Kenyon, is chief painting instructor at a summer art school called Millwood. The Haunted Fort is the 44th book in the series of Hardy Boys books released under the pseudonym Frnaklin W Dixon but written by a number of different ghost writers. This particular book has quite an intriguing mystery, although it would have been better had the origins of the mystery and how the boys become involved been a little more natural and believable. The Hardy Boys (brothers Frank and Joe Hardy) look into the theft of an oil painting, and find that it is one of a series kept in an old fort, which is owned by the millionaire Mr Davenport.
