Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Mystery Of The Melted Coins was published in the US in 1944 & was the twenty third in the series. It was heavily revised in 1970 when a new story was written mainly using new ideas rather than material from the original. The book first appeared in the UK in 1972 & was numbered 7 when it was published by Armada. Chet Morton has a link with Zoar Valley University, as a favour to his friends, Frank and Joe Hardy. However, following a serious coin theft and a number of suspicious goings on, the brothers and their freind Chet head to Zoar, where they find an old abandoned shack as opposed to a flourishing University. The theft of the coins leads them to the Rideau house, and as the plot thickens, our heroes dig and dig until they start to uncover conflict steeped in history linked with the Seneca, and the local people seem to be unhappy with the recent invasion from the Hardys.
