Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Mystery Of Cabin Island was published in the US in 1929 & was the eighth in the series. It was revised in 1966. The book first appeared in the UK in 1973 & was numbered 26 when it was published by Armada. After the relative dullness of "The Secret Of The Caves", this book is a return to form & is, as far as I'm concerned one of the most enjoyable of the early books. The story ... Ever one for providing continuity in a series of books, Franklin W Dixon links two previous Hardy Boys books with this one in sending Frank and Joe Hardy off to a remote island by invitation. They take their ice boat, the 'Sea Gull', off to Cabin Island, invited by the owner of the island, a reward for helping him retrieve his car in an earlier book/adventure. While on the island, the boys run into adventure,a s they always do, and it appears someone is keen to make them leave the island, as the groceries first disappear, before brief glimpses of mysterious people start to worry the boys.
