Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Mystery Of The Whale Tattoo was published in the US in 1968 & was the forty seventh in the series. The book first appeared in the UK in 1973 & was numbered four when it was published by Armada. The Mystery of the Whale Tattoo is the 47th book in the series of popular books written for teenage boys. While there have been a string of good quality books with believable plotlines, this one sadly reverts back to a formula wherby the two heroes (Frank and Joe Hardy), teenage boys themselves, become the world's greatest mystery solvers and get embroiled in something that is just unlikely in real life. I understand this is fiction, but to be entertaining it needs to have foundations in reality, and this sadly doesn't.
