Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Sinister Signpost was published in the US in 1936 & was the fifteenth in the series. It was revised in 1968 with an almost completely new story. The book first appeared in the UK in 1972 & was numbered 22 when it was published by Armada. This review is for the Armada edition. Author Franklin W Dixon brings the Hardy Boys back home and where they belong by getting them to help with one of their father's cases for a change as opposed to galavanting off around the world on their own, chasing strange adventures and criminal activity. This adventure sees them helping their father investigate a series of accidents at a race track. As the Hardy clan investigates further, they start to uncover deep rooted grudges that wind up giving motive after motive to a number of people wishing to sabotage and close the race track, and the boys and their father have to use all their sleuthing skills to find out what is going on.
