Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Ghost At Skeleton Rock was published in the US in 1957 & was the thirty seventh in the series. It was revised in 1966. The book first appeared in the UK in 1974 & was numbered 36 when it was published by Armada. The book opens with Frank & Joe having a flying lesson from series semi-regular Jack Wayne. We get an exciting little bit of mystery in this, the 37th Hardy Boys mystery. The Hardy Boys, Frank and Joe, receive a letter from their father with a cryptic message on it, inviting them into adventure. This slight change in tack in terms of the Hardys' mysteries is a nice angle to approach it from, and is very well written. The Hardy Boys' father, Fenton, is a well known supersleuth who works closely with the US government, and when the boys realise he is in trouble, or that he obviously needs to get a secret, coded message to them, they soon set about trying to decipher the message.
