Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... The Hooded Hawk Mystery was published in the US in 1954 & was the thirty fourth in the series. It was revised in 1971. The book first appeared in the UK in 1973 & was numbered 29 when it was published by Armada. The book opens with a peregrine falcon being delivered to Frank & Joe at their home. The 33rd Hardy Boys book was a disappointing affair, and it looked as if the ghost writers using the pseudonym Franklin W Dixon had all but given up on trying to write a decent Hardy Boys tale. It was as if they were relying on the immense popularity of the books up until this point to keep sales and enjoyment going on. Instead, there is too much pressure put on the reader to make the enjoyment come out of the page and use their own imagination to provoke excitement from the stories.
