Frank & Joe Hardy are the teenage sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy & his wife Laura. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... What Happened At Midnight was published in the US in 1931 & was the ninth in the series. It was revised heavily in 1967.The book first appeared in the UK in 1972 & was numbered 21 when it was published by Armada. One of the nice things about this book is the title which makes a nice change from the usual "The Secret of so & so" & "The so & so Mystery". It's a nicely oblique ...  Read the complete review

In a stark contrast to the previous 9 Hardy Boys books, brothers Frank and Joe experience a much darker and intense adventure than before. They are asked to break into a scientist's house to retrieve a special invention in order to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, and in doing so they set off a chain of events which involves Joe being kidnapped. Frank and his friends turn their sleuth switches on to find Joe and discover just who is behind the kidnapping and what is so special about the invention and who wants it.
