Advantages: A good story-line!!!!!!!
Disadvantages: missing something
I really don't know what to make of this book. I admit that it is nothing like the other books I have read, and I wasn't really expecting a story such as this but I just couldn't make up my mind about it. For 3 whole days (this being the third day), I've been wondering whether I should write this review or not, I have had lots and lots of time in order to write this review, but I've been occupying my time with many other things so that I didn't have to do this review, but in the end it solves nothing!
I came across this book in my scholastic catalogue that I get off the school librarian. I got it in a multi-pack; I think I initially paid £12.99 for 10 books that the RRP price for all of them together came to an amazing £64.99 which is quite a good bargain. Nut I'll put up my hands and admit that I was only interested in reading one book which was a Meg Cabot book. Anyhow I decided to read all the other books as well, see if I find a great author. So far I haven't found a new favourite author, and Anne Cassidy is not one of my favourites
Anne Cassidy's book revolves around a girl and something to do with a missing sort of thing. Take these 3 titles "Missing Judy", "Girl Lost" and "Talking to Strangers". It is pretty obvious that most of her books revolve around a missing person. I do have to admit that she is a pretty good author though in my opinion there's something lacking. It didn't capture me and I didn't feel the need to complete this book straight away!
The story line is quite a mystified sort of story. Lou and her Mom Anna have always been together. And they can always tell each other tonnes of things. But Lou is fed up with moving every single time, and every time she brings up the conversation of her dad, Anna is getting shifty eyes. But then Lou finds a newspaper article about a girl named Lou who was stolen from a push chair when she was only a few years old. And this fits in with the dreams Lou has been having. She knows that Anna likes to steal petty small thing, but would she really go this far?
This book seems like a very, very small story-line, and I do agree with you on that. It happens only to be 170 pages long, which is a lot smaller than the Buffy books and the charmed books. So why did it take me 6 complete days to read. Now, the Buffy books take 1-2 days to read, Charmed about the same. So you would expect me to finish a book this short within 1-2 days. I shall not make up excuses such as I was really tired, or that I had lots of homework to do. I have to hold up my hand and say that the whole book was missing energy. It's about a teenager, but it just doesn't seem that way it feels and looks plain and boring, and to be totally honest it is.
Let's say that Meg Cabot was to write a book along the same sort of lines. I would say that Meg Cabot would but a teenager perceptive in it that would make it lively and so full of energy you'll just want to read it. However this book just is bland and wouldn't have that sort of energy in it.
So why have I rated this 4 stars then? Well that is because I liked the initial story-line, and although I thought that the whole book was lacking something. Anne Cassidy has added something to make you enjoy this book. I am truly mystified by the whole thing.
I don't know what else I can say apart from the fact that I do recommend it though I have to tell you not to expect to be encaptured, but to feel you want to read the book as long as possible because of the story-line.
Thank you all for reading and keep on rating!
