of Shanara was a big hit and was the first fantasy book to make it into the New York Times best sellers list. This was a big deal for Terry Brooks! Brooks has writen several different series of books, most are trilogys although some of his series are longer. Many overlap and come back to world where earlier series were set. I have not read all his books, but I have read The Vogage of the Jerle Shanara trilogy and also the High Druids of Shanara Trilogy. I enjoyed the books but am not really a huge fan of Brooks. There was just something lacking for me in his writing style. There is lots of action in Brooks books but for me they are to quick to get into the ...

Of course, it might have been nice to learn that a little quicker, but there you go. Here I am at book three and I found that quote - and all of a sudden things seem a lot more interesting. Now, I just have to wait for the stories to catch up with the background! The problem, as I see it, is that the links with a world like our own are in the far and distant past.
