That man is Walker Boh, the last of the Druids. But one other person understands the map's significance - the Ilse Witch, a beautiful but twisted young woman, who wields a magic as potent as Walker's own. She will stop at nothing to possess the map - and the magic it leads to. To stop her, Walker must find the magic first. And thus begins the voyage of the sleek, swift airship Jerle Shannara. The company chosen by Walker must fly into the face of unknown terrors while the Ilse Witch and her dark allies follow, waiting to strike.

of Shanara was a big hit and was the first fantasy book to make it into the New York Times best sellers list. This was a big deal for Terry Brooks! Brooks has writen several different series of books, most are trilogys although some of his series are longer. Many overlap and come back to world where earlier series were set. I have not read all his books, but I have read The Vogage of the Jerle Shanara trilogy and also the High Druids of Shanara Trilogy. I enjoyed the books but am not really a huge fan of Brooks. There was just something lacking for me in his writing style. There is lots of action in Brooks books but for me they are to quick to get into the ...

Great Wars. In their place was reborn the magic of a world older still, a world in which only faerie creatures had existed." Such is the premise behind Terry Brooks bestselling Shannara series. Of course, it might have been nice to learn that a little quicker, but there you go. Here I am at book three and I found that quote - and all of a sudden things seem a lot more interesting. Now, I just have to wait for the stories to catch up with the background! The problem, as I see it, is that the links with a world like our own are in the far and distant past. I still hope the series continues to play with these ideas, but in the meantime what we have here is pretty ...
