delightful christmas childrens classic (The Jolly Christmas Postman - Allan Ahlberg)
Member Name: supersonic75
Advantages: simple to read Disadvantages: the 'envelope' pages tear easily Janet and Allan Ahlberg wrote 'The Jolly Postman' and it proved to be so popular they wrote this Christmas themed sequel in it's wake. This was bought as a Christmas present a few years ago for my two young sons and it became a firm favourite, especially at night time. It's based on the same story as the original book, but it's set on Christmas Eve and we follow the Postman as he sets off to deliver all the Christmas post. There is again the interactive element which allows the child to really get involved in the book by opening the 'envelopes' positioned every couple of pages, and containing 'real' letters addressed to the nursery rhyme characters;a concept which proved popular in the first book. It's wrote in a simplistic but delightful way and the rhymes just roll off your tongue as you read them. A brilliant book, which personally I think is better than it's predecessor Summary: a must have if you have young children |
