The Jolly Postman, Or Other People's Letters - Allan Ahlberg ... interactive books for young children. Accompany the Jolly Postman on his rounds as he delivers post to classic children's characters, all of which happily live within his delivery round. Meet the Three Bears, Cinderella (now happily married to her Prince Charming), Goldilocks and many more. The real magic in this book lies in the inclusion of actual and highly personalised post for each character--each tucked into a neat envelope between the pages of the book. Enjoy Goldilocks' "Sorry" letter to the Three Bears, a Postcard to the Giant from Jack and, most amusing of all, the writ issued to the Big Bad Wolf (still occupying Grandma's cottage) by lawyers acting on behalf of both Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs.

Throughout the book, the illustrations are small yet lovely to look at with many different children's characters that even us adults love. The font is easy to read and the main story is written in rhyme so wonderful for young children to learn to read with and easy for a younger child to listen to without much thought and actually quite entertaining to read. The Jolly Postman or Other People's Letters Janet & Allan Ahlberg The Jolly Postman books have been around for many years and have entertained children throughout many of those years, myself included. I loved reading my sisters Jolly Postman book and knew that it would be a great favourite to my own daughter. When I saw the exact same book I had being sold once again, I had to pick it up for her even though she is not quite two yet - I just couldn't pass up the opportunity (and I really wanted to read it myself once more to bring back memories!) ******************* A JOLLY OLD MAN ******************* The Jolly Postman ...  Read the complete review

The Jolly Postman is a children's book written in 1986 by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. The Ahlberg's have written many super children's books including 'Each, Peach, Pear Plum' and 'Funny Bones'. I have always enjoyed their book's, both for reading to a class and to my own children. The Jolly Postman is an interactive book. All children between the ages of four and ten will love it. The story is written in a rhyming format, which is very popular with youngsters today, as they can finish the rhyme or chant it with you. The book features the main character, the Jolly Postman, and then many nursery characters, which the young reader can associate with, like the Three ...  Read the complete review

This was a present for my daughter's second birthday and it's something I had never seen before (despite it being a children's classic), so I was very intrigued when I opened it up. What an exciting book! It's a truly lovely book, and is basically a story of a jolly postman delivering letters to various fairytale characters. The version we have has a hardback glossy cover with lovely illustrations of the fairytale characters, but the thing that makes it wonderful is that every other page is an envelope with a letter or some other item of post inside, what a great idea! The pages are really good quality with just 4 or 5 lines of large text on each so the ...  Read the complete review

Wow I completely totally forgot about this book and it has just bought back so many memories. As a child I actually remember it from being in little school it was one of my most favourite books to choose when it was reading time and we had to pick our own book to read to ourselves, I think it was everyone's favourite to be honest everyone wanted to pick it before anyone else. I also remember the disappointment when I couldn't find it in the book rack as someone else had picked it. The best bit about the book was going through the postman delivering his letters and each letter you could pull out of a little envelope and see what the letter looked ...  Read the complete review

Pages open out and unfold, magical element. None but remember to remind children that the moon can't be reached with a ladder!

Beautiful pictures, my granddaughter shows lots of interest in this book, comparing different items I think a board book would have been better than these thin pages

Teaches the days of the week in sequence No real story / plot.

Nice to look at Bit dull and boring story
