"The Lake of Dead Languages" is set in a girl's boarding school next to the atmospheric lake of the title. The protagonist of the novel is Jane Hudson, a former pupil of the school who has recently returned to teach Latin. In her final year, Jane experienced the loss of both her room-mates to apparent suicides and events from that year seem to be recurring. The novel is well written and draws you in as a reader. I enjoyed this book a lot but that didn't stop it from being pretty predictable. I had worked out most of the twists and turns of the plot by about a third to halfway through the book.
