The Last 100 Days by John Toland, first published in 1965 according to my hardback copy, tells the story of the last 100 days of WW2 in Europe. "Perhaps no other 100 days in history have had more significance," writes the author in a note at the start of the book. "Within the space of three months Roosevelt, Hitler and Mussolini died, as did Facism and Nazism. V-E Day marked the end of one era and the beginning of another." The author explains that he attempted to write of these portentous days as if they took place a hundred years ago and to portray the central figures with the objectivity of the time.
