The last volume of the Alan Clark diaries charts the final decade in the life of the colourful and 'maverick' politician. Although he never achieved his political ambitions he was suprised to find that his published diaries drew much acclaim. Today Alan Clark is best remembered as a brilliant and indiscreet diarist.
