This is the first book written by Dan Brown that I have read and I am so glad i did. I have seen movie for the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons but thats it, I decided to buy this book as it was a best seller so thought I would give it a go. From about the third chapter in, I found I couldnt put it down. The plot is that a Havard ... Read the complete review

The US author Dan Brown has faced his fair share of criticism over the years, much of which relates to his somewhat agricultural writing style. Despite this, Brown is an immensely popular writer, as his use of historical fact combined with an ability to construct a gripping story, helps create highly readable works of literature. Dan ... Waited for the release of this book for so long and bought it the first day it was out, couldn't wait to get it home. At first it gripped me; the story had all the twists and turns of Brown's earlier books like Angels and Deamons etc., the main action is definitely at the beginning and towards the middle of the book when the plot begins to ... This book is one of my all time favourites. The storyline features the usual mysterious sole antagonist as his other books, however there is one huge twist right at the end which very few people would see coming. The Lost Symbol, as usual, sees Langdon being involved in many violent scenes completely un-suited for a man of his age and profession, ... Read the complete review

Dan Brown's follow up to The Da Vinci Code resurrects Robert Langdon as he tries to unveil an ancient portal and save his friend Peter Solomon (a senior ranking free mason) from Mal'akh, the tattooed villain hell bent on destroying the Solomon family and discovering the secrets of the freemason brotherhood. The book starts well enough ... Read the complete review

I want to start this review off relatively positively - I've been a fan of Dan Brown's writing since his very first adventure but, I have to say, this latest one was a little disappointing.... First off I just want to say that, due to the hype that this book has had since it was announced way back when, it's no surprise that 'The Lost ... Read the complete review

After having read and enjoyed Dan Brown's Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code I was looking forward to reading his newest offering in the Robert Langdon series, The Lost Symbol. Now lets get a few things straight about Mr Brown's books, they are probably never going to be the most critically acclaimed, they tend to follow a set ... Read the complete review

I am a huge Dan Brown fan, and was delighted when I found out that he had written another book and was sure that it would be of the same quality of his previous work. As soon as I read the back cover and realised Dan Brown has once again built his novel around the affable Robert Langdon I was sceptical. I love a good sequel, but after ... Read the complete review

After 6 years, Dan Brown finally delivered his follow up to the hugely successful Da Vinci Code, a book I really enjoyed along with Angels and Demons and Deception Point (let's not mention Digital Fortress!). However, it is a poor successor in many ways in my opinion and the mystery of its half-price tag on the day of release soon became clear. ... Read the complete review

There was a literary fight in our house over who would read this book first ! The Lost Symbol is probably the best researched book of Dan Brown's. Factual accuracy is the key here, quickly drawing the reader further and further through the pages. Common religious & cult misconceptions are examined often simultaneously touching the readers belief or non-belief. In the privacy of your mind you will be judged and surprised by your own preconceived ideas.
Professor Robert Langdon is much more that the Indiana Jones of Dan Browns' books, he exudes intelligence in a way much more appealing and mysterious way than your history teacher ever could.
This is the best book by far. I would rate The Lost Symbol 1st, Angels & Demons 2nd and not even a close 3rd The Da Vinci Code.
Welcome to Dan Brown, read on and unlock your mind.

"In 1991, a document was locked in the safe of the director of the CIA. The document is still there today. Its cryptic text includes references to an ancient portal and an unknown location underground..." That is the teasing first page in the book and typical Brown, mixing fact with fiction to hook you in from the off. It is ... Read the complete review

For anyone who has read Dan Brown's other works (and the majority of potential purchasers wil fall into this category) the style of prose and, indeed plot construction, will be familiar from the outset of this book. 'The Lost Symbol' was always going to be a difficult book to write for Dan Brown. The hype surrounding its predecessor, 'The Da Vinci Code' was incomparable. What concerned me most about this book was that the real reason for the success of that book was the setting and the revelations, all things that Brown hadn't come up with. He just put a ...
