Any book that analyses anything as emotive and closely guarded as the Bible is setting itself up for major criticism from the Christian camp and belligerence from the general readership. Depending on your own paradigm or universal view books such as this fall into one of two headings. If the book is trying to alter people's perceptions of their faith then it will be met with obvious suspicion and general denunciation. If it is aiming to examine the subject on a purely archaeological level then it will be sidelined to the academic niche market and largely ignored.
