THE LOST WORLD SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE "For a fairyland it was - the most wonderful that the imagination of man could conceive. The thick vegetation met overhead, interlacing into a natural pergola, and through this tunnel of verdure in a golden twilight flowed the green, pellucid river" That is an example of the lovely writing and descriptions that we are treated to in the lovely little book. I do think that it is a shame that in today's literary world of chick-lits, vampire books, thrillers and horror stories, good old fashioned 'classics' like 'The Lost World' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are completely overlooked. I've always loved this novel by Arthur Conan Doyle, its been a favourite of mine since I was child and I've only just read it again and enjoyed the whole thing once again but for subtedly different reasons from childhood memories of the novel. Synopsis of the novel The book is written in the first person by a journalist Edward Mallone, a Irish rugby international who is trying to make his mark as a journalist (remember those days of amateur rugby players), he plays for Blackheath and is given a commission to interview the infamous Professor Challenger. Challenger is a bristly aggressive professor of natural history and has been claiming over ... Read the complete review

The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle isn't a book I would have personally chosen to read but it was the most recent book chosen by my bookclub so I thought I would try it. I really didn't think I was going to enjoy it, dinosaurs, Victorian Explorers and adventure aren't the things I tend to look for in a book. However I was pleasantly surprised, I really enjoyed the story and it is a real page turner. The book was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in who was born on 22 May 1859 in Edinburgh and is more well known for his Sherlock Holmes stories. The Lost World was written in 1912 and was originally serialized in a newspaper. It's a story about a ... Read the complete review

The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle really is a brilliant novel that is very well written throughout. The novel was originally released in 1912 and is very breifly about an experdition that is about the quest and search for dinosaurs that are still around. The novel is 272 pages and really is beautifully written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I would really recommend this novel if you are into the genre of science fiction and thriller's. It really is a great read overall and I would really recommend it! The novel itself is about a journalist who is called Ed Malone, he then asks for a form of adventure to do and one that will combine elements of danger with it! ... Read the complete review
