Advantages: scary stories with an humanic twist

Disadvantages: nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book is the first book in the series "The Midnight Library" the book is called "Voices"

Now this book is SERIOUSLY for everyone, even people with spider phobias, there may be a spider on the front but don't squeal and run away just yet due to the fact there is hardly any mention of spiders in this book!

Now for people who are questioning why the series is is called The Midnight Library I shall tell you why... There is THREE SCARY STORIES IN ONE! Well that's what it says on the back of the book next to the barcode which is on a library card printed on the back!

So instead of me having to just review one story, I have to review THREE! So you'll have to bare with me as I take my time reviewing it.

Right before I begin I want to write down an important bit, and that is the back of the book well part of it!
"Welcome to the terrifying world of The Midnight Library
I, Nick Shadow, have spent many years searching for the most spine-chilling stories in existence. Now, at last, I have chosen to share with you the best of my collection
Read on... if you dare!"
Now that's one good blurb to draw the reader into buying the book, don't you think?

Now inside the book it says that these 3 stories are by Shaun Hutson so if you may have heard some of these stories then it shows they must be spine-chilling stories!

Right the first story in this book is called Voices... Now this is about a girl called Kate who thinks it's just a normal day as usual but then she realises that something is totally wrong, at the age of 12 she has turned into somebody who can pick-up telephone calls, now that sounds normal but it isn't because she's not got a phone by her ear! She can hear conversations when standing near a telegraph pole. She wonders how this is happening, and then her mum who's in hospital tells her that she has a gift, well others call it a curse. It's her great-great-grandmother's fault, she was celebrating her 12th birthday and there was a storm outside, but she was very persistent and decided to go outside and it was a coincidence that lightning hit the telegraph pole outside her house and the electricity ran up Elizabeth (Kate's Great-great-grandmother) miraculously Elizabeth survived but every single relative in her family when they become 12 years old they inherit this ability/gift/curse. Kate now knowing all this will she determine whether this ability is a curse or a gift, and what kind of fat lies for her?

The second story is called A Perfect Fit; this is about some new trainers which Justin won for being the 10,000th customer in a sports shop. This story was one of my favourites! Anyway Justin's footballing skills have gotten better thanks the trainers. But ever since he's had the trainers weird things has been happening, like when he cam home from playing football, he used to jump over his mum's plants, but this time he decided not to get them dirty but the next morning his mum's plants have been destroyed and his new trainers are covered with soil, another time is when his next door neighbour is painting his garage walls and when Justin comes home from school he finds the police at his next door neighbours house and notices that his neighbour's car has green foot prints all over it. And guess what... when Justin checks his trainers, which he locked in a safe, they have green paint on the bottom. Then Justin decides to throw them into the Dump, but what have these trainers got in store for him? Will the trainers try to prevent Justin from putting them in the dump?

Now the last story in the book was quite a funny one if you want me to be totally honest! I hadn't expected such a story to be in this book, but it was! There's this boy called Tim, he enjoys riding his bike, but he's been left under the care of his Grandmother for a few days, he decides to jump the wall and try one of those ripe juicy apples in the next-door's garden. But the neighbour catches him and Tim just manages to jump over the wall in time, but he didn't have time to eat one or even take one. So one day he tries again and succeeds but what will happen to him when he eats one? I shall not tell you but it's a twist I never thought of!

There are a few other things I should put here, one is that on the page before there is an introduction and it says...
"Welcome, reader.

My name is Nick Shadow, curator of that secret institution:

The Midnight Library

Where is the Midnight Library, you ask?
Why have you never heard of it?
For the sake of your own safety, these questions are better left unanswered. However ... so long as you promise not to reveal where you heard the following (no matter who or what demands it of you), I will reveal what I keep here in the Ancient Vaults. After many years of searching, I have gathered the most terrifying collection of stories known to man. They will chill you to your very core, and make flesh creep on your young, brittle bones. Perhaps you should summon up the courage and turn the page. After all, what's the worst that could happen ...?"

Now that's a good introduction don't you think?

Summary: Three Scary Stories in One!!!!!!!!!!!
