In the Dark - Richard Laymon
by AndyHayes - written on 02/11/00 (Useful, 20 readings)
Rating:
Great story written by the master of horror. The basis of the story is that a young lady is given some money hidden in a book. There is a note in the book telling her that if she followings clues every time she finds one the money prize will double. Every time she has to get one it gets more dangerous and mysterious. It not exactly ...

In the Dark - Richard Laymon
by jekyllandhyde - written on 18/08/03 (Useful, 35 readings)
Rating:
Richard Laymon books are always about the people. They may be weird, malformed, disturbed, psychotic but he's always interested on the limits that people will go to. What they will do in a crisis, what they will do for love, money, curiosity and how far they will hurt or save other people to do it. New to town, she knows very few people but tries to make an effort to get to know the library customers. She lives alone, and has obviously got some bitterness towards men after being 'screwed over' by old boyfriend Keith. One day she happens upon an ...

Alarums - Richard Laymon
by philsammie - written on 14/07/00 (Useful, 7 readings)
Rating:
If there's such a thing as a disappointing Laymon novel, then Alarums is probably it. The novel is shorter than most of Laymon's works, and I get the distinct feeling that it should really have been written as a short story. It concerns a concert violinist, Melanie, who has a mysterious vision of death, which sets her off on an obsessive ...
