Since I discovered it, I have made much use of Martin Lewis’s website moneysavingexpert.co.uk. As many of you will know this is a site designed to help the consumer make the most of their money and gives advice about a wide range of financial topics. I was therefore pretty excited a few months ago when I managed to pick up Martin Lewis’s book The Money Diet. The blurb promises that it will help you cut back on your bills without cutting back, help you avoid being ripped off and even put more money in your pocket with no change in lifestyle. Pretty grand promises one would think but who could resist that? I picked up my copy at ... Read the complete review

The Money Diet Had someone mentioned the name Martin Lewis to me a year ago, I've have instantly thought about the newsreader. Now the concept of "happy news" associated with the name Martin Lewis has another meaning for me – thanks to "The Money Diet", the book written by a self confessed superscrooge. To try and illustrate how the book helped me, I have taken one example from each section of the book as to how I have benefited from the information contained in that section. As in real life where I face a battle to fight the flab due to over-indulgence, it was my over indulgence that put me in a position I had to get out of. As ... Read the complete review

This book was given to me by my boyfriend's mother a while ago. However, I only started reading it a few days ago after nearly having a heart attack caused by realising that lately I've been spending more than I am earning. That's when I said to myself - it's time to do something about this! At first I thought the claim on the cover (The Money Diet could save the everage family up to £6000 a year) was way unrealistic but I must say I have already changed my mind. When I started reading it I realised straight away how easy it would have been for me to save some money every month by simply being more careful everytime I spend. The ... Read the complete review

I cannot stress enough that this book changed my life! In a nutshell i was a single parent who ran up around £25000 of debt partying and generally living a financially ignorant 'i want it now' lifestyle! (not that i have anything to show for it) i had overdrafts, bank charges, credit cards, sky high interest rates and as for my household bills they were out of control. And when the bills got on top i would just take out another credit card or another loan. I read this book, after looking on the authors website, and decide it was time to get smart and this book gave me step by step instructions. I started by doing a budget planner which i had never done ... Read the complete review

Martin Lewis is well renowed by now as one of the main journalists the UK has for finance. He has his own show on Five at 7pm on a Wednesday and appears regularly on several tv shows and radio shows giving advice that he believes in Over the years he has grown in popularity and this book is a best seller and he must have made a pretty peny out of it. It's quite a easy read and when i say he believes in what he says he really does like i believe that he would put all his money in where he says he would Although lets not forget this is the man that told people the No1 bank to put your money in to last year was Icesave, and because of his advice ...
