Chicken pie for me."
This wakens Mother Hen up who sees the chicks are missing and Slow Dog suddenly realises that his fishing line is pulling and he gets pulled into the river right on top of Fast Fox and the boat.
The story ends with the chicks safely back home although Mother Hen has another problem and she tells her friend about an extra chicken she seems to have. When the page is turned we see that Fast Fox is up to his tricks again and is h...more |

***Background*** Allan Ahlberg is a bit of a favourite with my son at the moment and he is constantly looking for books in his Funnybones series about a family of skeletons in our local library. This book is part of another series and is based around Fast Fox and Slow Dog. ***The Story*** The tale starts with Mother Hen speaking on the phone. "'It is a mystery to me,' she tells her friend. 'My chickens won't eat their breakfast. My chickens won't eat their lunch. My chickens won't eat their supper. And yet they're getting... Fatter...and fatter...and FATTER! I wonder ...
