When wealthy businessman Paul Renaulds writes to Poirot, stating he needs help and imploring him to come it could not arrive at a more opportune time for that detective. Irritated to the point of distraction by what he perceives as increasingly trivial requests for help, this new letter seems to offer something greater in the way of intrigue and thus Poirot wastes no time in heading over to France to meet with Renauld. Accompanied by Hastings, who is full of talk about a young woman with red hair that he has recently talked briefly to on a train, (Hastings has a penchant for redheaded women) the detective is eager to find further details of the case as soon as possible. ...  Read the complete review
