Everywhere I go, whether it is up town, or to one of Birmingham's endless out of town shopping centres, dad always drags us into one shop that I hate being in. I don't really know why I hate being in there, maybe it's because I don't want people seeing me in the shop or something like that. Anyhow when I'm not with my dad, I steer clear from this shop. This shop is called Pound land. And this is the shop where I came across this autobiography. If I was a little bit older maybe I would have known who was on the front cover, but I didn't and decided to take it home anyway just to see if I liked it. I had never ever heard of Danniella Westbrook, when I first ... Read the complete review

As soon as I heard Danniella Westbrook had a book out, I knew I would be buying it. I have always found her interesting, even though her life was very different to mine. So I checked round for the best prices and found it available on Ebay, brand new for only £5. I started reading it the day it arrived and had finished it all in two days, but could easily have read it all straight off, if I’d had the time and no distractions. I love reading autobiographies, but The Other Side Of Nowhere isn’t exactly an autobiography. Danniella was interviewed on This Morning last week and explained that it wasn’t a kiss-and-tell or name-dropping kind of book and it isn’t, ... Read the complete review

This was the first auto biography I read. I bought it passing a shop and it was reduced to about £5. I was intrigued as I knew she had had a hard life using drugs, having a child etc. Anyway I sat down to read it, and I was fixed straight away, it is a nice easy read. You dont have to think about it, just read it. She tells her story, how she got in with the wrong crowd, starting to meddle in drugs a little, how it progressed , how she got famous and it got worse. what happened when she hit rock bottom and her child went into care. She describes everything in detail. how she struggled to get through the days, and how she finally met another man and came ... Read the complete review

Im a fan of autobiographies, anyone who is famous and in the spotlight or has had a very successful life. I was intrigued when I saw Daniella Westbrook had written a book as she had very publically battled drugs, yet had never really openly spoken about it, so it would be amazing to hear the real story. The book starts off (as all autobiographies do) with her early childhood, growing up and deatiling relationships with family members etc. One of the main surprises here is that Daniella had a rather middle class upbringing and loving supportive parents, I may be judgemental but I always expected her to have got off to a bad start. The chapters lead ... Read the complete review

Being a recovering addict (I have been clean for 2 and 1/2 years), i totally related to Daniella's story. It is a very open and honest account of her addiction and recovery, it is neither glamourised nor under estimated, just a true account of how it was for her and her family. I related to most of what she described and admit to having had wet eyes at least once during almost every chapter. All credit to Daniella for coming out the other side of nowhere-by the way what a great title!, although i think some credit must go to her family and husband, Kevin, who was a consistent rock to her throughout the highs but even more so the lows. As i know ... Read the complete review
