Advantages: Gripping, thrilling, emotional and intense .

Disadvantages: Can't put it down .

The pact is a tale of two teenagers who have grown up next door to each other and then fall in love. The book tackle the question of how far you will go for the one that you love.

One night the one of the teenagers gets shot and dies, the other claim that it was a suicide pact that went wrong, one died the the other survived. The book then take you through the court case as they and you try to establish did she commit suicide or did her boyfriend kill her.

The character are easy to relate to as they are normal people trying to deal with an extreme situation, the sudden and unexpected death of a loved one and the accusation of that death.

I really enjoyed this book and kept on reading for hours on end, because I had to hear the evidence, listen to what had happened that night, see how the parents would deal with it and find out whether Chris would be found guilty or not.

This one is a real page turner and Jodi Picoult does not disappoint, sticking to her usually high standard of intense and gripping writing.

I thought it was terrible and guessed the court verdict correctly on about page 14.

Also i disagree that Picoult created a rela moral dilemma, there are not many of that would seriously consider taking the life of a perfectly healthy 17 year old like whathername because they were going thru teen angst or something.
