The Voice of the Violin - Andrea Camilleri
by sunmeilan - written on 22/01/09 (Very useful, 225 readings)
Rating:
Inspector Montalbano has an eye and an ear for murder - so much so, that when a colleague prangs a parked car, and no-one does anything about it for a couple of days, he knows that there is something wrong. And sure enough there is - on breaking into the house, he finds the naked body of a beautiful woman, who was suffocated to death. The woman's husband is a respected doctor who lives miles away, as does her lover. Her only contact in the area seems to be Anna, another beautiful woman, and a set of distant relatives. When Montalbano discovers that one of the relatives has been stalking the dead woman, it seems that the case is solved. But life is never that simple in Sicily, and before ...

Excursion to Tindari - Andrea Camilleri
by sunmeilan - written on 16/08/07 (Very useful, 123 readings)
Rating:
of European crime fiction over the last five years, which has given me the opportunity to read a selection of work that I wouldn t usually be able to understand. Andrea Camilleri is one of the better known authors to have hit Britain s bookshops, with works such as The Shape of Water and The Terracotta Dog. Based in a small town in Sicily, the books are full of the colourful flavour of the area - including the less wholesome side. Salvo Montalbano is the chief of a small team of detectives, amongst whom he commands great respect. He is a typical detective in that he is a bit of a loner, but he does have a more human side than some - he does at least have a girlfriend, ...

The Shape of Water - Andrea Camilleri

Rating:
ve taken to going to my local library and picking names of foreign authors at random; this time, I came home with this book, originally published in 1994, by Andrea Camilleri, of whose name I ve vaguely heard. The story is set in Sicily, which is a new setting for me. I particularly enjoy reading police procedurals set in other countries; it is refreshing to see how different police forces work - at least in fiction. The author Andrea Camilleri is one of Italy s most famous modern writers. He lives in Italy. His books have now been translated into nine languages and have reached the bestseller lists in Italy and Germany. All the books from the Inspector Montalbano ...
