The Valkyries - Paulo Coelho
by orchid1988 - written on 25/07/08 (Useful, 265 readings)
Rating:
The Valkyries is a true account of Paulo Coelho s quest to see and speak with his guardian angel. It is written through both the eyes of himself and his wife, Chris. I feel that Chris s perception is partly included so that the reader is able to gain more of an insight into the mystic of which Coelho reveals carefully in each of his books. The book is a chronicle of his journey through the Mojave desert inwhich he seeks the Valkyries, an obscure group of spiritual women who travel the desert on motorbikes occassionally aiding people who are worthy to speak with their angels. The book had all the elements of Paulo Coelho: magic , spirituality, self realisation, ...

Rating:
This is a very personal book and in my opinion you will either love it or hate it. No matter how you feel about the book, it will make you think about your life as much as any other book. It is filled with great philosophies, metaphors and allegories, and every now and again you may find yourself stopping to think over a particular ...

The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
by starfish2000 - written on 25/07/00 (Very useful, 189 readings)
Rating:
I have given a copy of The Alchemist to so many friends of mine I've lost count how many times I've actually bought the book. I can honestly say that none of them have been disappointed and they've all passed copies on to their own friends. It's that kind of book, when you've finished it you want to share it. It's a simple tale of a shepherd boy's quest to find a hidden treasure. A quest which takes him from Spain to North Africa, across the desert and eventually to Eygpt. On the way he meets kings, magicians, The Alchemist; he falls in love and learns to listen to his heart, read the signs that life shows us and believe in the power within himself. ...
