Advantages: very interesting...

Disadvantages: the story had to end... for a while..

this story is such an interesting one. i was only doing a research paper on one country and read a historical fiction book and my history teacher suggested to read this book. i didnt really know what was the story about but when i first started reading it, i couldn't stop. this story is such a page-turner for every moment is so surprising. also, i heard that this story is based on bryce courtenay's life itself. and if you want, you could read the sequel to it called, "TANDIA" i'm pretty sure that it's about Bryce and his love story that he went through with his wife. The "Power of One"...why did it have to end? when i got to the last page of this book, i felt sad for some reason because i really wanted to know what would happen next. it was so awesome that i actually felt the way the narrator, PEEKAY himself and that i was also right beside him as he went through so many things in his life. it's nice to read a book like this, mostly on rainy days. :)

Summary: Why did this story had to end...it was so interesting...yet there is a sequel to it you know... :)

Welcome to Dooyoo!

I'm afraid I'm still a little baffled about this book after your review. What genre is it? What's it (roughly) about?

If you have any questions, or about the site in general, do feel free to get in touch with me or one of the other guides - we're here to help! The easiest way to contact me is through my Tooyoo (free) guestbook: http://www.tooyoo.org/boo k.php?user=calypte

Happy Dooyoo'ing!

Is it fiction? Is it self help? A memoir?

I didn't really know what the story was about after I read your review and whilst spoilers like the end is discouraged, telling us what the story is like is essential to a book review because unless we can establish this, how will we know if we would like it. Let's try and explain. For all we know, you may be someone who likes "go Fishing" or "trainspotting" and because you said you liked it and could not put it down is no recommendations. No one knows your taste in books. If you said what the writing was like, whether the story was believeable, how the characters interacted with each other and whether the ending left you with thoughts that took you beyond just reading it, then you would be halfway to a really good review.
