Patterson has clearly decided that he has now established himself so well a thriller writer that his readers are gullible idiots who will read anything he writes (sadly, there may be some truth in that.) He makes no attempt to explain or justify these ludicrous plot twists, but rather expects you to simply accept them and move on, even if they don't make sense. There are some books that you never want to end; there are some books that you read quickly, because you are enjoying them so much. Then there's The Quickie. True, I wanted to finish it quickly, but only so I could get it over with and move onto something better. The Quickie is aptly named: a sordid, worthless, dull experience; it appears that James Patterson conceived and wrote the whole thing in about five minutes whilst he was waiting for his tea to cook.
