Colin Montgomerie is without a doubt the best golfer Scotland has produced in the last few decades, having won no fewer than seven European Tour Order of Merit Titles (that's the top golfer in Europe) and having represented Europe with distinction on so many occasions in the Ryder Cup. That's *NOT* to say he's been the most popular Scottish golfer of the last few decades. In my estimation that title would most likely go to the amiable and very likeable Sam Torrance, whose penchant for smoking wee roll-up cigarettes, even when in the company of the world golfing elite, certainly endeared him to my heart.
