The Reckoning follows on from The Summoning and The Awakening, It follows the story of Chloe Saunders who is a genetically altered superhuman who has escaped from a group home for troubled teens with her special friends Simon, Derek and Tori.
The Edison group are on the hunt for the group and Chloe and friends have to go through alot in this particular book.
These books entice you with their design and make you want to read them, the chapters are easily readable and Kelley Armstrongs descriptions of the characters and srroundings make you feel as though you actually know them.
Due to the fantastic writing by Armstrong, i couldn't put this series down once i had started and they where read within three days, The Reckoning in particular had me gripped on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
I do have to admit that this book is not a generic story that can be second guessed like many of the latest top sellers, Just as you think you know what will happen to Chloe and her friends, the story takes a surprising turn.
Will they make it to Simon and Dereks dad's friend house? Will they be safe if they do? If they don't, will they come to an un-timely death? or will Derek be the one to turn on them?
I suggest you head on over to Amazon to pick this up today at a fantastic price.
Book 3 of 3. This is the final part of the Trilogy - The Darkest Powers. It follows 15 year old Chloe, who has discovered that she has supernatural powers, is very talented and quite unique, even in her new supernatural world. The first 2 books are The Summoning & The Awakening. Nice looking paperbacks. Available on Amazon at a good price. I keep saying in my reviews to buy all 3 at once - you will regret it if you don't.
I am always disappointed at the end of books and trilogies - so don't be put off by this. This is an excellent trilogy, and i was gripped throughout. However, i always seem to want a spectacular ending, and as other reviewers have said here, it seems Kelley has left the door open for a follow up, which means threads at the end which aren't tied up totally! However, not to spoil the plot, as even the naivest of readers would expect nothing less, Chloe does get her man, which is a huge relief!
Chloe masters love, her family, her ability to see and provoke dead people and her hair.
Read this trilogy if you enjoyed the Worst Witch, Happy Potter, LOTR, Twilight, Little Women, Pride & Prejudice - you will enjoy it for its simple plot, strong characters, realistic rediculousness and the fact that it has a beginning, a middle and an end (even if the end leaves you feeling there will be more...)
I'm a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong, I've read most of her books and although the trilogy of Darkest Powers books is written for Young adults I thoroughly enjoyed reading them.
The Reckoning is the final book in the trilogy, the previous books were The Awakening (2) and The Summoning (1).
I purchased my book from WH smith as part of the buy 1 book get the other half price, the usual price is £6.99. The book is available in paperback and can be purchased in Hardcover. The paperback has 400 pages and is published by Orbit.
The Darkest Powers trilogy is centred around Chloe Saunders, a 15 year old girl who is a genetically enhanced necromancer. (In layman's terms she can raise the dead without trying)
The Reckoning sees Chloe and her friends, Derek (werewolf), Simon (warlock) and Tori (witch) seeking sanctuary in a House lived in by enemy's of the Edison group. (the company who performed the modifications on the children)
Without giving any of the story away to those who have not read this book yet, There is suspense, insecurity, love triangles, family history revelations and new alliances all packed into the final book.
I do hope that Kelley Armstrong writes more as I feel that the ending left a wonderful opening for another book.

I have recently read this book - in fact just finished it two days ago, and it is amazing! A great climax to the triology.
Having just ran like hell from the labs and the edison group - a group of scientists experimenting on the supernatural race, chloe and her friends try to find somewhere to stay.
Chloe is a necromancer - someone who summons the dead but she feels useless as her friend Simon is a Sorcerer, Victoria is a Witch and Derek is a powerful werewolf.
They find somewhere to stay who they trusted ... that's what they thought.
Taunted by ghosts and spirits, Chloe is finding it hard to know which is dead and which is alive!
Chloe is not normal - besides being a supernatural, she can raise the dead without even trying. And even weirder, instead of falling in love with the sweet-tempered Simon, she finds herself falling for the not so sweet-tempered Werewolf.
This book is in first person and has 391 pages (paperback). It's £6.99 on back of book. It's the third book in the 'Darkest powers' triology which is a teenage read.
I found this book hooked me from the first chapter, and it will do the same to you to if you loved books like : Twilight, Evermore, Need, Marked, Vampire Diaries, The summoning, The awakening...
Hope this helps!
